Former NFL Player Derrick E. Frost to Speak at Business Preservation Seminar & Breakfast

Posted on: November 19th, 2013

Bridgeville, N.Y. – On Thursday Nov. 21, 2013, Derrick E. Frost, formerly of the Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, and Green Bay Packers, will be a special guest speaker at the Business Preservation Seminar & Breakfast at Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant in Rock Hill.

Frost is the author of “The Pro Athlete’s Guide to Wealth Preservation,” and an industry leader, teaching other professionals how to protect clients’ assets, the foundation of any long-term investment strategy.

Also speaking at the seminar and breakfast, Cliff Silverstein, of 1st New York Financial Group, and Richard J. Shapiro and Austin DuBois, of Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone, LLP, will offer insight about how to properly protect businesses and families from potential financial pitfalls at a Business Preservation Seminar Breakfast at Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant in Rock Hill.

The event is being hosted by the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development and the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce.

Silverstein, who has been involved with estate planning for 34 years, works with current and former NFL players, billionaires, and multi-millionaires to protect their businesses and other assets from losses that could cost them their business or cause severe hardship for their families.

Richard J. Shapiro, of Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone, LLP, leads the firm’s Estate Planning, Probate, and Elder Law department, and has pioneered the use of the Legacy Assurance Program, a simple strategy that incorporates an annual maintenance program as an essential part of a client’s estate plan. Shapiro, who also counsels high net worth clients and business owners in creating tax efficient legacy plans, has received an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has a perfect 10.0 rating at www.avvo.com.

Austin DuBois, also of Blustein, Shapiro, Rich, and Barone, LLP, concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, elder law and business planning. He was named “Top Attorney for Estate Litigation” two consecutive years by SJ Magazine, and has also received South Jersey Magazine’s “Awesome Attorney” award for Estate Litigation.

Business Preservation Seminar attendees will learn how to minimize or eliminate certain federal and state taxes, minimize retirement taxes, and maximize retirement income. In addition, they will walk away with a better understanding how to manage legal, health, and tax issues to successfully leave a business to one’s heirs.

Strategies to plan for these unfortunate realities will be discussed in detail, and attendees will become familiar with the value of their business and the importance of carefully selecting the beneficiary of the business owner’s life insurance policy.
