Bridgeville, N.Y. – Fred Stabbert III, Chairman of the Sullivan County Partnership Board of Directors, has announced the appointment of Marc Baez, as President/CEO, replacing Interim CEO, Allan Scott effective July 10th.
Two years ago, Allan Scott, at the request of both the Partnership and the IDA, became Interim CEO of the Partnership, in order to lend a hand to the organization when its CEO departed. Allan spent the past two years building an incredible management team, which includes Marc Baez, of Baez Associates, and Michele Klugman Resnick. Marc and Michele were added to assist with business expansion and attraction efforts as well as membership. Since then, the Partnership trio has provided guidance and technical assistance with the financing, to 21 key prospects, representing over $20 million in investment in Sullivan County. Through their efforts, 200,000 sq. ft. were filled and 100 jobs created, despite a most challenging economy. The Partnership has increased its member base by 40%.
“We are grateful to Allan Scott for the tremendous job he did for us during a very difficult time and we know we can continue to count on his help as CEO of the Sullivan County IDA. We are also delighted to have Marc, once again, lead our organization.” Stabbert said. “Marc is a proven expert in the field of economic development, and one of only few formally trained certified economic developers in the region. He will give the organization the qualified representation it needs in the Hudson Valley, and I am happy to hand off the reins.” Said Scott.
Marc’s economic development career spans almost two decades. An independent consultant the past four years, Marc focused on agribusiness, renewable energy, corporate site selection, and small business and industrial development throughout the tri state area. His experience spans stints in planning, private commercial development, and small business entrepreneurship and executive rolls. In addition Marc sits on the Greater Hudson Valley Health System board as well as the Mid Hudson Cooperative Insurance board. Well known to the Partnership, Marc began his economic development career in 1995, first as VP of Business Development, and ultimately as CEO of the Partnership. Marc is credited with the creation of the Small Business Loan Program, and the recruitment of many businesses to Sullivan County at the height of the Partnership’s membership and development activity.
“Getting back to basics and focusing on small businesses, the greatest job creators long term, and our ability to aggressively diversify our economy one business at a time while readying ourselves for anticipated landmark projects will be key to our success moving forward, “ said
Baez. “I look forward to helping accomplish this goal and applaud Allan for his guidance through some of the most challenging times in our economy,” he added.
