ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER:

RYAN ELLER, president and chief executive officer of Empire Resorts, Inc., is overseeing the development of Resorts World Catskills (set to open March 2018) in the Town of Thompson. He has extensive experience in the design, development, and operation of many casinos and video gaming machine facilities, including the Monticello Casino & Raceway.

Before joining Empire, Mr. Eller served in various executive officer positions with Genting New York, LLC. Concurrently with his position at Genting NY, Mr. Eller served as senior vice president of development of Genting Americas Inc., where he oversaw the design and development of the Resorts World Las Vegas integrated resort, a $4 billion project on the Las Vegas Strip.

From 2012 to 2013, Mr. Eller served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise, an enterprise of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, which operates three casinos including the Pearl River Resort. From 2007 to 2012, Mr. Eller served as treasurer and executive director of finance of PCI Gaming Authority, a business enterprise created by the Poarch Bank of Creek Indians, where he helped design, open and operate three casino and hotels representing capital investments over $600 million. From 2006 to 2007, Mr. Eller served as regional manager, planning and analysis at Caesars Entertainment, Inc.

Mr. Eller served in the United States Marine Corps from 1997 to 2004, where he attained the rank of major. He holds an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy.

ABOUT OUR HONOREES:

LES KRISTT, a lifelong resident of Monticello, N.Y. has worked tirelessly to grow Kristt Kelly Office Systems Corp. since joining the Sullivan County-based family business in 1969.

There were only four employees back then. Now there are roughly 25, and the company has employed as many as 50 at various times throughout the last 48 years. Mr. Kristt has grown his company to reflect the changing needs of Sullivan County’s business communities, expanding from the days of typewriters to focusing on office machine and repairs, computer services and point-of-sale solutions, office furniture, duplicating services, and The Frame Game & Art Supplies.

Mr. Kristt has been recognized on many occasions for exemplary commitment to his community and its organizations. He was named Businessperson of the Year in 2002 and honored with the 2016 Silver Anniversary Award, both by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce. He has also been honored twice by the Sullivan County NAACP, once in 1998 and again in 2003.

Mr. Kristt is currently a member and former vice president of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce and a founding director of the Community Bank of Sullivan County, now Catskill Hudson Bank, where he chaired the Loan Committee from 1994 through 2007.

He is also a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Orange & Sullivan Celebrity Dinner & Tip Challenge Committee, and a 42-year member of the Monticello Rotary Club. Most recently, he was chairman of the committee that organized the Rotary’s most recent Monster Run, a fund-raising event that netted $12,000 this year. He was chairman of Monticello’s Bicentennial Committee in 2004.

Mr. Kristt has led the Monticello Central School District Hall of Distinction Committee since its

inception, and been actively involved in Catskill Regional Medical Center’s annual Heart-A-Thon for the past decade He and his wife, Amy, are also avid animal advocates, and together the Kristts have four rescue dogs and seven rescue exotic birds. Amy is on the Board of Pets Alive.

GARY SILVER is a partner with the Monticello law firm, Billig, Loughlin & Silver LLP, and the attorney for the Village of Liberty representing the Village Board, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Mr. Silver began his legal career in 1984 as confidential law clerk to Hon. Robert C. Williams, a Supreme Court Justice in Sullivan County, before going into private practice. He is a graduate of Brandies University (1981) and Hofstra Law School, and was a partner in the law practice of Stoloff & Silver, LLP Jan. 1995–Sept. 2016.

Mr. Silver is a member of the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development’s Board of Directors, a member of the Bethel Woods Business Development Committee, a director and the vice president for Legal and Governmental Affairs for Operation Endeavor, Inc. (a not-for-profit humanitarian organization), and president of the Liberty Rotary Club.

Through the Liberty Rotary Club, Mr. Silver is involved in the Haiti Clean Water Program, which works to provide 1,000 water filtration systems to 1,000 families in Cap Haitien, Haiti.  He wrote the Rotary Foundation Grant, which helped transform nearly $23,000 in funds into $105,000 to fund the program for at least 4-5 years, and continues his efforts to raise money.  Mr. Silver has traveled to Haiti seven times since November 2014 in connection with this program.

Mr. Silveris a resident of Sullivan County for 33 years, along with his wife Diane, who together raised two daughters. His actions demonstrate a long-term and firm commitment to Sullivan County and its economic development, as well as to helping others in need.
